The heat is definitely on today, and looks to gradually cool through Thursday. As we move into late August I am hoping these will be the hottest days we see until next summer. Conditions for trout are not all that great with water temperatures being a big issue on large and midsize streams. If you do fish for trout think small and use your stream thermometer. Check out my previous report for some good info on what to expect and tactics for when the water cools back down.
Due to the heat Bass and Pickerel fishing is probably your best bet. Target any bass lakes or ponds, or the lowest stretches of the big rivers. Fishing very early or evening through dark with top water poppers and divers is really about as fun as it gets. For the next week or so I will be unavailable to guide. We just had our first baby girl friday, which came as a huge surprise as she came a full month early. I am actually writing this from the hospital now. Ill update the report as soon as I get back on the water and begin guiding again, likely next week.
