DRIFT BOAT TRIPS Experience a Western Style float in Vermont's beautiful Green Mountains. These float trips take place on the Winooski, Lamoille, and occasionally the White Rivers. These rivers hold mainly wild and stocked Rainbows and Browns, but occasionally Brookies and Smallmouth Bass are caught. Drift boat trips allow the angler the opportunity to fish areas that are almost inaccessible by foot, allowing the angler to cast to un-pressured trout. Floating is also a great way to see the beautiful scenery that Vermont has to offer. The float alone is worth taking the trip. We will fish from the boat, and also stop at nice pools or riffles and wade if desired.
If you are visiting Vermont, there is no better way to fish and see Vermont. If you are a local and have never fished from a drift boat, or floated some of your local waters this is a trip for you. It is amazing to fish some of the water that no wade fisherman gets to.
Drift boat trips are dependent on river flows and water Temperature. Prime time for trout is May, June September and October, when river levels are most likely to be floatable and water temps are below 70 degrees which allows for trout to survive being caught and released. When water temps do drop to acceptable levels during July and August we often find excellent trout fishing as well. When temps rise is also when the bass fishing picks up and we have the option to float the lower stretches of the big rivers for smallmouth, which pound for pound are probably the hardest fighting fish we have. Occasionally trips do need to be re-scheduled or cancelled due to high or extremely low water conditions or weather, and I will work with you to accommodate your schedule or issue a refund.
I use an 13' Aire Super Puma Raft with customized frame designed specifically for fishing Vermont's Rivers. The boat seats 1 or 2 people plus the rower and is equipped with lean bars, casting platforms, raised swivel seats, coolers, cup holders, rod holder, and anchor. This is a fishing machine and can run in very shallow water. The raft is durable, and light allowing the rower to ease in to pools without alerting the fish and makes it ideal for getting into and out of Vermont's rivers.
We can accommodate larger parties. Please contact us regarding a second boat and Guide.
